Timothy M. Tippins is a leading authority on New York matrimonial and family law practice. During his more than 25 years as an attorney, he has established one of the most active matrimonial practices in New York State. He currently serves as head of the matrimonial and family law department of O'Connell & Aronowitz in Albany, New York.

Tippins also maintains an independent statewide practice consultancy, in which he accepts lawyer-to-lawyer engagements and renders service as trial and appellate counsel in select cases, as well as case strategy and management consultation. He also undertakes select expert witness engagements with respect to matrimonial and family law issues in fee disputes, grievances and malpractice litigation.

Tippins has served in all major professional leadership positions in the New York family law community, including:

· President of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers - New York Chapter

· Chair of the New York State Bar Association Family Law Section

· Chair of the New York State Bar Association Task Force on Family Law

Additionally, he is one of fewer than 100 lawyers nationwide to be granted Diplomat status by the exclusive American College of Family Trial Lawyers.

His written contribution to the body of professional literature has been extensive. In addition to his principal work, New York Matrimonial Law and Practice, a three-volume treatise published by West Group, he has published numerous articles in an array of professional publications.

In 1993, Tippins founded MatLaw Systems Corp. to provide current and expert-based information resources and practice tools to the family law bar. Through MatLaw, he developed the Tippins Interactive Practice System, a software program specifically designed to aid New York family law practitioners in the preparation of practice documents. Now known as MatMaster 2000TM, this windows-based program is New York's leading comprehensive software system, used by thousands of family law professionals.

Long committed to legal education, Tippins has served as an Adjunct Professor of Law at Albany Law School since 1987 and has been one of New York's most popular lecturers on the CLE circuit. He has lectured extensively for national, state and local organizations, including:
